I’ve always suffered with anxiety for most of my adult life, to the point of it being chronic. A few years ago I wondered whether I had ADHD. As a child I can remember being told I was hyperactive and always on the go, but I did well at school and I’ve always done well at work, no lateness or not getting work done on time so I thought no it must be anxiety. Last year when I started seeing the specialist Dr for chronic illnesses he suggested maybe getting an assessment so we looked into the NHS route but the waiting list was ages and as a 53 year old, they said I’d got through life so far, so it wasn’t really urgent. Danny my husband then started looking at the private route and we managed to find a local physiatrist 2 minutes from home. We did our research and decided to give it a shot as a lot of people who have chronic illnesses also have ADHD which can also make your symptoms worse. It’s been a long journey as Dr Skelton didn’t want to rush the diagnosis with me just being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea, chronic fatigue and MCAS along with fibromyalgia. He also talked a lot to Danny and also my sister to get history on how I was as a child. Fast forward to last month and I was found to indeed have ADHD, both types and was put onto medication. I was really nervous to start taking it but bit the bullet and started it. I can honestly say, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I feel like a totally different person. My energy levels, motivation, mood and outlook on life have totally changed for the better. For those of you wondering whether you have ADHD especially women who mask it, my advice to you is to go for the assessment. It’s changed my life; thank you Dr Skelton. ❤️

I cannot recommend Dr Skelton Enough. He has truly changed my life and I am forever grateful for his care and expertise knowledge. I was late diagnosed with combined ADHD and from the very first assessment appointment to every appointment thereafter my best interests were always at heart and the end goal of improving my mental health wellbeing and getting me on the right medication. He is very kind. Patient. And has a great sense of humour. He makes you feel very comfortable and at ease. And you can tell he really cares. Elizabeth his secretary always returns emails promptly and politely and she has been amazing. I’m so pleased to report that my shared care has been accepted so I can now have my prescriptions under the NHs but still registered to DR Skelton where I will see him once a year unless I need to see him sooner for any issues etc which I am very happy about. thank you Dr Skelton you have helped me immensely and my marriage, my mental health, my happiness, confidence and I am slowly starting to accept and find peace with who I am at 42 years young :) . Forever grateful 🫶🏻 also he recommend a child psychiatrist for my son DR Nambi and my son now has his diagnosis and medication 6 months ago which has been life changing for him with his GCSE Exams in 2 months. Everything happens for a reason. And I urge anyone who needs clarity and help to book an appointment with DR Skelton not always the cheapest option and I’m very grateful that me and my husband work hard and can afford private care I understand not everyone can. But with the waiting lists the way they are just now with the NHS, me and my sons life would be very different. My mental health was at peak breakdown with hormones etc and not knowing I had ADHD and my son not getting the help and support he deserves in school up until now because of the private diagnosis. All this has shaped our future and physical & mental health for the better. Thank you ❤️

Dr. Mike: a consistent presence of clear, calm, and understanding support, during a time where inside I was a howl of anxiety, overwhelm and exhaustion. Dr. Mike: someone who cuts through the noise and says out loud the thing you kind of knew in your gut but didn’t have the language for. I was all-over-the-place, pre-ADHD diagnosis. At breaking point. I shook in the waiting room like a I needed to be gently listened to. I needed to lean into the why as much as the what. I needed to be given the science, the practical, the tangible. Dr. Mike covers all bases. In a kind of beautiful and unexpected way, Dr. Mike made my ADHD feel less like a wild dog to be tamed, and more like a cluttered room in need of careful, deserved attention. What I mean: I am grateful for the way Dr. Mike shrunk everything down to actionable, manageable steps, nuanced in their approach to where I was at in my life. He will, I sense, will always be rooting for me. And, no doubt, you. J. H
