Specialist Child Psychology Service in Derby

The Child Psychology Hub is an independent clinical psychology service based in Derby, led by Dr Ella Woods. The practice specialises in the assessment and treatment of children, teenagers and young adults experiencing mental health difficulties.

ADHD Assessment

The Core ADHD and Learning Assessment costs £1,795 and provides a comprehensive understanding of your child's symptoms, presentation, and learning needs.

Assessment Process:

1. Screening & Referral - Forms completed by parents to ensure appropriate referral
2. Parent Interview - Detailed developmental history and ADHD assessment from parent perspective
3. School Information - Gathered from a teacher who knows the child well
4. Face-to-Face Assessment including:
   • Play session/clinical interview
   • Qb Check - An FDA-cleared, TGA-registered computerized test (15-20 minutes) measuring attention, activity and impulsivity, compared against normative data
   • Learning Assessment (IQ Test) using the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC)
5. Questionnaires - Conners' rating scales for parents, teachers and child
6. Feedback Session - One-hour session with lead clinician

Reports

All assessments include a comprehensive report with:

• Detailed formulation and diagnosis
• Plan of support and recommendations for parents, child and school
• Educational recommendations

Assessments follow NHS and NICE guidance and go above these standards for thoroughness. Reports are accepted by schools and can contribute towards an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Important Note

As Clinical Psychologists, the team can diagnose ADHD but cannot prescribe medication. If medication is recommended, it would need to be initiated by a psychiatrist or GP.
