I approached Autism Unpicked after a recommendation and was so pleased I did. From our first telephone conversation, I felt Alex listened and approached my concerns without judgement. We decided to undertake the autism screening for two of our children. The process was very straightforward and Alex liaised with school, which was helpful. The findings of the screening were reported very quickly, with clear actions for moving forward. We decided to go ahead with a full assessment for one of our children. In terms of our other child, Alex was able to provide useful follow up feedback and advice. I felt she really understood our families concerns and this has put our minds at rest. The process for a full autism assessment was undertaken with professionalism and expertise. During the parent interview, Alex made us feel at ease and listened with empathy. The written summary of the interview, which was presented in the final report was accurate and detailed. The timeframe from appointments to conclusion and feedback was quick. As our child is 15, he took part in the feedback session which was facilitated excellently. Liz was professional, compassionate and empathetic. She held space for us as parents and for our son. She is skilled at communicating complex ideas into easy, understandable concepts, with practical and clear examples. The report and cover letter again is professional and detailed. I know this will be helpful as we continue to advocate for our son and help him transition to greater independence, taking account of his neurodiversity. The recommendations in particular are holistic and some are diverse in approach, which I think is important for an older child. After years of not knowing and feeling misunderstood, along with navigating the long waiting times in the NHS, we feel heard and seen. Autism Unpicked should be commended for the fantastic service they are offering, and whilst there is a financial implication, it is worth every penny. Thank you Alex and Liz.

Many thanks to Autism Unpicked! My 19 year old daughter felt truly understood and supported throughout your assessment process and now has the personal validation she needed to share her Autism openly with a wider audience and minimise the exhaustion of masking. The whole of your ‘young adult’ process from start to finish was focused around understanding her as a whole - how she functions today, as much as acknowledging her childhood and teenage development. A truly supportive process with a very detailed and accurate reflection on all the information collated from all parties.

We would highly recommend the services provided by Autism Unpicked. The team were highly professional and clearly passionate and specialists within their fields as registered HCPC therapists. We felt supported and our daughter felt understood, giving her the confidence to speak about her experiences. The positive neuroaffirmative approach has provided our daughter and us with an understanding of her neurodivergence, which has helped her and us to understand and implement some coping strategies. Importantly, being able to move forward in a positive way. From the point of initial phonecall to the supportive meeting to explain findings was approximately 5 weeks. We also paid for some follow up 1:1 sessions to help our daughter to understand herself and build on her self worth. The relief for our daughter ( and us) to understand her thinking and behaviours and to see this in a strengths based approach has been truely life changing. Our daughter is 17 and at a critical point in her education and personal development, waiting years and being stuck between child and adult services was not an option we could easily accept. Initially, we did question whether the assessment was the right thing to do for our daughter - We are so glad we made the investment. Things have changed so much in a short space of time and all for the better. We have the greatest respect and gratitude for the amazing service Autism Unpicked are able to provide. Autism Unpicked recently completed an assessment on our child. We decided to go down the private route as did not want to wait 2 years on NHS waiting list. Upon contacting AU the process was explained clearly, with excellent communication from start to finish. The staff were friendly and professional throughout, and very quick to respond to my questions/emails. The information gathering, assessment process and feedback report was very thorough, but also efficient and completed within a few weeks, and provided useful recommendations to help with some of the challenges we face. I would highly recommend this service.

We have used Autism Unpicked twice now. On both occasions, we were supported throughout the process. At every step, the team were committed to providing time, explaining, and welcoming additional questions and it did feel like a collaborative process that we all contributed too. Their understanding of neurodiverse families, how information is shared, the views taken, and the manner in which the assessments have been conducted have been very professional, compassionate, and caring. The reports produced have been very comprehensive, with information to satisfy education, health, and social care planning processes, along with practical recommendations for us as parents. The reports also guided our family to access other resources that are suitable for young people.
